“From my perspective, art and music should be always involved in the transformation of our society. Doesn’t matter wich kind of music I am making -classical, modern, reggae, pop, rock or electronic- it should aim to reflect us as human beings.”

Julián was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He studied double bass in Bogota for several years . In 2012, he moved to the Netherlands, where he obtained his Master’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, studying with Jean-Paul Everts. At the same time he became an academist in the Residentie Orkest in The Hague and plays regularly with Het Ballet Orkest in Amsterdam.

Has been invited to play in important ensembles as Insomnio and Asko Schoenberg. Since 2016, he is a member and founder of the ensemble “But What About“. With this ensemble he has been performing in very important festivals like “Grachten Festival” in Amsterdam, “Wonderfeel” and “Gaudeamus Muziekweek” in Utrecht.
